How much space does my website need?

The content of your website determines the space requirements, of course, but that content goes beyond the usual HTML files, images, databases, etc. It also includes things we don’t always think about, like email accounts, access logs, and third-party programs or scripts you may have installed.

Content Type

Basic Website: If your site is primarily text-based (like a blog or informational site), you might need only 1–5 GB of storage.

Media-Heavy Website: Sites with high-resolution images, videos, or downloadable files (like a photography portfolio or e-learning platform) may require 10–50 GB or more.

E-Commerce Website: E-commerce sites with product images, customer accounts, and databases might need 5–20 GB.

Traffic Volume

Low Traffic: Websites with low visitor numbers typically require less space. Shared hosting plans with 10–20 GB should suffice.

High Traffic: High-traffic sites, or sites with dynamic content (like forums or online stores), may need more storage and dedicated hosting options.

Functionality

Knowledge Base Websites: If you’re working on a WordPress knowledge base site, consider storage for plugins, themes, and articles. This could range from 5–10 GB.
Dynamic Features: Interactive elements like user registration, databases, or APIs will increase your storage needs.

Backup and Growth

Always account for future growth. If your site expands or accumulates more content, having additional storage ensures smooth operations.
